NVC & RESTORATIVE PRACTICES  IN SCHOOLS

Our mission is to support youth in becoming effective and compassionate leaders. We provide Nonviolent Communication programs that offer leadership and collaboration skills for resolving conflict and bringing awareness and care for our shared universal needs. We work with youth and those who guide our youth in schools, organizations, and at home.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE CENTER

We offer a number of restorative justice programs, which bring together offenders, victims, and others who were harmed by the offender’s actions, to deal with the consequences of a harmful event and come to an agreement on how best to repair the harm.

Victim offender conferencing is a process designed to hold offenders directly  accountable to the person that they have harmed. The conferencing process brings victims and offenders together in a safe and structured environment, giving victims a chance to express how the incident affected them, get answers to their questions about what happened, and allowing them to be involved in the restitution or accountability process.

MEDIATION

We offer training in Nonviolent Communication mediation, and provide trained mediators to help everyone move through conflict in a way that builds connection and meets the needs of all involved.

The Teran James Young Foundation is dedicated to serving the youth through a wide array of impactful Community Programs in Maui. One notable initiative is their peer mediation program, which trains young individuals to become skilled mediators. These peer mediators play a crucial role in resolving conflicts among their peers, fostering understanding and promoting peaceful resolutions. The foundation also places a strong emphasis on suicide prevention, offering comprehensive resources and support to raise awareness about mental health issues. Through counseling, education, and community outreach, they strive to create a network of support for vulnerable youth. In addition to peer mediation and suicide prevention, the Teran James Young Foundation provides various opportunities for personal and professional growth, including leadership development, career exploration, and artistic expression. By offering these diverse programs, the foundation ensures that young individuals have access to a holistic range of services, empowering them to thrive and succeed in all aspects of their lives.
